Breaking News – Helen Hunt models bikini top and surfing leggings on Maui
She and Matthew Carnehan ended their 16-year romance this year. And ahead of her first Christmas single in over a decade and a half, Helen Hunt was glimpsed Tuesday enjoying a holiday on Maui.A smile on her face, the 54-year-old actress was photographed on the beach in a turquoise bikini top and a black pair of surfing leggings. She had popped a pair of sunglasses onto her face, keeping her hair out of her face by sweeping it back behind her head.Helen had pulled on a shirt and a baseball cap when she was seen actually surfing, spreading her arms as she headed toward the shore.Matthew, 56, had been with her since 2001 and fathered their now 13-year-old daughter Makena before People announced their breakup this August.Helen has been married once before to Hank Azaria from 1999 to 2000, a relationship that did not result in any children. The year before tying the knot, when she had already been dating Hank a few years, she won her Academy Award For Best Actress via As Good As It Gets. She has since also been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for the 2013 film The Sessions, but lost to Anne Hathaway for Les Misérables.Helen wrote, directed and starred in a 2015 surf-themed film called Ride, and while plugging it she dished to The Surf Channel about how she had learned the activity.’I always wanted to surf and then it’s one of those things when you live here, [when you see] a surfer, you stare at them out there and they seem very exotic. So, I finally took a pair of lessons and was terribly nervous,’ the Culver City-born actress said.’They went horribly, [I was] yelled at by these kids for an hour and a half and could barely get myself out of the water. And I thought: Never again, I will never ever, ever, ever do this again. And then, another friend of mine who is a surf teacher said: “Wait a minute, I could give you a surf lesson that’s more fun than that!”‘Yet ‘I was still pretty scared, and it felt like someone was standing on my head on my second lesson, but I started to enjoy it and I started to realize I could find my own way in the water. I could look where I see a spot that looks okay to me.’As she remembered: ‘I could go out for 20 minutes and could do more than I could do. So over time, I was just, love it, love it, love it, love it. But I’m still pretty terrified of it, it’d take a mellow day to get me out there.’This year, Helen was in I Love You, Daddy – which had its release scuttled after its star, director, writer and editor Louis C.K. confessed to sexual misconduct allegations that were published last month in the New York Times. Her upcoming films include Die In A Gunfight, in which she will feature amid a cast including Olivia Munn, Josh Hutcherson and Kaya Scodelario. She will also star alongside Christina Hendricks, Uzo Aduba, Sami Gayle and Jacob Latimore in a comedy called Candy Jar that per IMDb is in post-production.
